Manchester Institute of Innovation Research

The Manchester Institute of Innovation Research is a centre of excellence in the field of innovation studies, building on a more than 50-year tradition of innovation and science studies in Manchester. With around 50 full members, approximately 40 PhD researchers, and a range of associated academics and practitioners, it is one of the world’s leading research centres in these fields.

Reflecting the ethos of rigour and relevance, engagement with key stakeholders is at the core of our work. The Institute informs science and innovation policy by engaging with key policymakers in the UK, Europe and further afield.

Alliance Manchester Business School

Established in 1965 as one of the UK’s first two business schools, Alliance Manchester Business School is part of the prestigious University of Manchester and the UK’s largest campus-based business and management school.

We offer a full range of programmes—from undergraduate and Master’s to MBA, Executive Education, and PhD—delivered with our ethos of Original Thinking Applied.

Renamed in 2015 in recognition of Lord Alliance’s £15 million donation and long-standing support, the School holds triple accreditation (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS) and delivers world-class, industry-focused education globally.

With centres in Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore, we create opportunities for students, researchers, and clients, and partner with businesses worldwide. Inspired by Manchester’s history of enterprise and innovation, our cutting-edge research influences policy and practice, placing us at the forefront of business and management.

The University of Manchester

The organisers gratefully acknowledge the generous financial support of the Hallsworth Conference Fund of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Manchester.

With 25 Nobel Prize winners among our current and former staff and students, The University of Manchester has a history of world firsts and brilliant discoveries, from splitting the atom to giving the world graphene. The University of Manchester is committed to world-class research, an outstanding learning and student experience, and social responsibility in everything we do.
